The pieces incorporate every notion of mixed media and recycling, from nature to urban artifacts. I see beauty and possibility in much of what is taken for granted or casually discarded; one person’s trash is another’s treasure. The surfaces are layered with color and texture, found and handmade objects, both old and new – visceral levels of implication, subliminal sleight of hand. Many pieces celebrate, among many things, the changing seasons, whether meteorological or emotional; I cannot help but understand relationships from a woman’s perspective. Truth be told, I think they’re either incredibly funny or terribly sad, like a dream that finds you sitting up in bed, laughing or in tears.

People bring me old photographs, letters, jewelry – shining stars from family archives meant to memorialize and cherish or gift, and I turn them into art keepsakes: little elegies or celebrations, repurposed, reconfigured, elevated, set in stone. All pieces are shadow box framed and the dimensions are for the outer dimensions of the frame.
